Our yarns line
Our yarns line
Ciao a tutti,
Many people wonder why some of our yarns get different colored labels, so I’m here to explain why! Currently, we have 3 different collections: the “Golden Line”, the “Fancy Line”, and the “Classic Line”!
The first collection I will introduce is our “Golden Line”. The “Golden Line” is made up of only the most pure and luxurious raw materials. In this line you’ll find gorgeous fibers like cashmeres, baby alpacas, mercerized merinos, baby kid mohairs, silks, and so many more. These fibers are kept pure or blended to create truly luxurious yarns with the most desirable hand-feels. Some crowd favorites in this collection are Superior, Nirvana, SoloCashmere, and New Bollicina! When you knit up a garment with a yarn from this line, we promise you’ll never want to take it off!
The “Fancy Line” utilizes a wide array of blended fibers spun together to achieve unique textures and color pairings. We’re implementing new technology and experimenting with all sorts of materials to bring the most original, one of a kind yarns to our knitters, crocheters, and weavers. This line is so special because the yarns do most of the work for you. You won’t need extremely difficult or intricate stitches to create a visually interesting piece, the yarns speak for themselves! Some of our favorite fancy yarns are Gioiello, Tempo, Satin, and Solare!
Lastly, the “Classic Line” encompasses everything else Filatura di Crosa has to offer. These are your everyday staples, and the bread and butter of our company! Here you’ll find fibers like classic merinos and cottons with even texture and color. Within the “Classic Line” we also have what is referred to as the “Zara Family”. These are FDC’s most recognized yarns because they have been a cornerstone in the collection for 30 years! The “Zara Family” is made from Exrafine Superwash Merino Wool. Superwash means the yarn is treated to be machine washable without shrinkage. Centolavaggi is the single ply base for the entire family of yarns. Zarina, Zara, Zara 8, Zara Plus, and Zara 14 in ascending order. Each yarn varies, featuring both classic and fashion colors in vibrant solids, mélanges, mosaicos, and chinés. What makes the “Zara Family” so special is the way in which the fibers are spun. Utilizing a technique called “Z twist”, the fibers are spun (twisted) in opposite directions, making it so the yarn will not unravel or weaken during the knitting process. These are true performance yarns. We guarantee you can knit, wash, or unravel a project without the yarn splitting!
