The Leah Cardigan

The Leah Cardigan

Ciao a tutti,

This winter I wanted to create a special lightweight cardigan that’s fun, cozy, and easy to wear, thus, the Leah Cardigan was born. I’m releasing this pattern just in time for the holidays as a little gift, because I want you to feel confident as you impress your friends and families with your knitting skills! Not to mention it’s perfect for those in need of last-minute gift cast-ons!

The Leah Cardigan is the gorgeous spongy and light cardigan it is, all thanks to Cuzco. This bulky weight yarn blends 3 natural fibers, Alpaca, Cotton, and Wool. The Alpaca and Wool give Cuzco its soft hand feel and halo, which allows the yarn to be knit up on large needles. The cotton is constructed as a chainette to provide strength, but what’s especially interesting is how gets its color. The cotton is space dyed using contrasting colors to the alpaca and wool, providing a thread of color variation throughout the center of the yarn. The three fibers complement each other beautifully and the color differences give the illusion of texture and depth while brightening the yarn.

The Leah cardigan takes just 5 balls of Cuzco (only 250 grams!) to knit up. The pattern has a modern silhouette using rib stitches for the body and a subtle basket weave stitch along the borders. I love using basket weave stitches in my garments because it’s a simple stitch pattern that looks way more complex than it is. This silhouette is flattering for all ages and body types because the border draws your eye down and naturally elongates the figure. This pattern is suitable for knitters of all skills, even if you’ve never knit a cardigan before! If you can knit, purl, increase, and decrease you’ll be able to make the Leah Cardigan!

My Leah Cardigan pattern is available as a free download for the month of December when you subscribe to the Filatura di Crosa newsletter. I know how many daily emails we all get, so I only reach out to you guys once a month with new information and of course, free patterns! Ms. F Crosa
