OPERA - Fancy Line SS2019
OPERA - Fancy Line SS2019
Ciao a tutti,
Today I want to talk to you guys about one of my favorite styles in the freshly launched Spring/Summer 2019 collection, The Giuseppina Cardigan! This year we released a new yarn called Opera and wanted to create a gorgeous pattern to support it, thus, Giuseppina was born.
Giuseppina is special in so many ways, but perhaps the most exciting thing about it for me is the fact that it’s an advance level knitting pattern. Typically, Filatura di Crosa tries our best to make our patterns simple so that they’re inclusive to knitters of varying skill levels. That being said, we know there are many knitters out there searching for new styles to challenge your skills, to push yourself to the next level… this pattern is for all of you!
Giuseppina features intricate lacework, pointelle chevron borders, and trendy bell sleeves to top it all off. The main pattern creates long vertical columns that draw the eye down to the chevron pattern, which runs horizontally, keeping the eye moving. From an artistic perspective, movement is a captivating element in any work of art. From paintings, to photographs, to garments, artists strive to keep the viewers exploring the piece by playing with positive and negative space, color, texture, and light. Giuseppina, with the help of Opera, does exactly that.
Opera is a very special new yarn we couldn’t be more excited about to share with you guys. It’s a fancy cotton-based yarn with tons of color, texture, and sheen. Each 50g ball has 200 meters (219 yards) worth of knitting (or crocheting and weaving) in a DK weight. Our inspiration for Opera came from our most popular Fall/Winter fancy yarn, Gioiello, which has been a staple in the collection for over 15 years. Immediately we knew Operas first supporting pattern had to be a lacy garment to highlight the true nature of the yarn. The open stitches allow light to dance around the piece, reflecting off the lamè in elegantly subtle yet impactful ways. The pointelle stitches also give the color room to shine, highlighting exactly how much care and consideration went into the design of Opera.
If you’re interested in knitting your very own Giuseppina Cardigan, you can purchase the pattern directly from our website, or through Ravelry where you can find us at “Filatura di Crosa Italia s.r.l.”. If you’d like to purchase Opera, ask your local yarn shop about it so they can contact one of our many global distributors for you today!
